Can Laser Remove Cellulite?

Laser therapy is the talk of the town these days as both men and women get worried about cellulite. Cellulite is a common condition of the body wherein excess fatty tissues seep into the spaces of connective tissue just below your skin. When the connective tissue is not tight or elastic enough, the tendency of these fatty tissues is to go to those spaces and stay there. This results in the lumpy appearance of the skin found on your thighs, buttocks, and the back of your arms.

Although there are natural methods in reducing cellulite in the body, laser therapy is a faster and easier way of getting rid of cellulite. But does it remove all cellulite? Is it 100% effective? Several people can say that laser therapy is only effective to an extent. It does not fully get rid of cellulite in the body. In fact, some laser treatments only make cellulite less obvious. Of course, this does not mean that cellulite is no longer there.

The newest laser treatment in the market is called Cellulaze. Cellulaze makes use of lasers to remove cellulite. It is becoming increasingly popular because it is apparently the first and only treatment that is done only once. Other laser treatments require you to go back after a week or so and schedule appointments up to at least 6 sessions. With Cellulaze, you only pay for one session and immediate results are seen.

The procedure works by letting you lie down on a bed and a certified doctor marks the areas where there is cellulite. Then, anesthesia or a numbing solution is given because you will be awake during the procedure. Incisions are done and a fine tube is inserted into your skin. This is where the laser fibers are inserted so they go deep into the dermis. Once these are in place, the laser starts to heat up and they target the excess fatty acids that cause cellulite. After the lasers melt the fatty acids, a substance is inserted so that it helps improve the skin’s elasticity. When your skin is elastic, there is little space for fatty tissues to penetrate. The whole procedure takes about an hour to an hour and a half.

Even though Cellulaze gives great results according to those people who have tried it, the treatment hasn’t been long enough on the market for doctors to say that it gives lifetime results. As of now, Cellulaze shows a big reduction in the appearance of cellulite and results lasts from 6-12 months.

There are other laser treatments that dermatologists offer, but all of them have not gotten rid of cellulite completely. Moreover, when thinking of getting a laser treatment, consider the side effects they can have once the procedure is done. Some laser treatments cause swelling and bleeding, and it is best to exercise caution when deciding whether or not to use lasers.
